Core Beliefs
The following are some of the core beliefs of Community Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
THE SCRIPTURES
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. We use only the King James Version of the Bible (Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy
3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21).
SALVATION
We believe in salvation by grace offered freely to all men through faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ by means of His death, burial and resurrection. We are saved by and kept eternally
by the power of God. We believe in the eternal security of the believer.
ETERNAL SECURITY
We believe that all who are saved are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ
forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:38-39; I Corinthians 1:4-8; I Peter 1:4-5).
THE TRINITY
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
THE DEITY OF CHRIST
We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23,
Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His vicarious
and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9); His resurrection (John
11:25, I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19); His
personal return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-16).
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit of God is a person who has personality and all the attributes of
Deity. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit which includes convicting the
world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. (John 3:5-6; John 14:16; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:15; I
Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Corinthians 12:13).
THE RAPTURE
We believe in the pre-tribulational Rapture of the church saints, followed by the seven-year
Tribulation. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule
of one thousand years. Following this one thousand years is the Great White Throne
judgment and then the new Heaven and new earth (I Corinthians 15:51-58; I Thessalonians
4:13-18; I Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22).
HUMAN SEXUALITY
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside
of marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that any form of
homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and
pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex (Genesis 2:24; 19:5,13; Genesis
26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8;
Hebrews 13:4).
